Northern Woods and Waters
August 8 @ 12:00 pm - August 14 @ 2:00 pm
For over 150 years the forests and lakes of northern Wisconsin have attracted summer visitors escaping the heat of regions further south. Beckoned by uninterrupted miles of state forest land, hundreds of pristine lakes, and friendly small towns, visitors flock to the region every summer for both relaxation and refreshing outdoor activities. Join us to see what the attraction of this region is all about on our seven- day Northern Woods and Waters Tour. We’ll cycle for six days on paved, low traffic roads through cool, shaded canopies, past peaceful inland lakes, and on several miles of the newly completed Vilas County paved trail system. We bypass the chain hotels to stay in historic lodges and a deluxe lakefront condo resort to allow our riders to enjoy the real “up north” vacation experience. Lodging locations offer swimming opportunities, and some have canoes and kayaks available for your use. We’ll energize for our daily bicycle adventure with hearty restaurant style buffet breakfasts, not chain hotel continentals that leave you asking, “Where’s the food”? End your day with delicious, varied restaurant dinners. Off-bike activities include an optional tour of the Eagle River Chain of Lakes with the Pirates of Eagle River and a “pedal and paddle” option on one day where we will be offered the chance to kayak on a pristine northern lake after a shortened bike ride. The tour begins and ends in Rhinelander, Wisconsin with overnights in Land O Lakes, Boulder Junction, Eagle River, and Minocqua. There will be a layover day in Eagle River in order to have an additional day to enjoy the swimming (indoor and outdoor) and watercraft available at the lakefront condos of the upscale Wild Eagle Resort. Riders can choose an optional bike ride through the beautiful Nicolet National Forest or a day off the bike to enjoy shopping in Eagle River or visiting the sand swimming beach for free use of paddle boards, canoes, and kayaks at this beautiful resort.
Price includes six nights lodging, five restaurant dinners, six breakfasts, optional water activity fees in Eagle River, luggage handling, SAG, maps, cue sheets, marked routes, rest stops, and all the pampering that only small group tours can provide. This tour fills up early every year, so don’t wait to register! Check website for details.
