While Tennessee is understandably known for its mountains, the best views aren’t necessarily at the top. Some of the most impressive scenery we’ve experienced in this beautiful state is in the fertile valleys and rich farmlands that lie at the base of the hills. Framed by steep ridges, these valleys are home to a wide array of agricultural uses that make for gorgeous cycling on relatively level ground. (Be advised that there’s no such thing as truly flat land in this part of the world!)
This Tennessee bike tour not only offers cyclists the opportunity to ride in two of the most picturesque valleys in the South (Sequatchie Valley & McLemore Cove), but it also allows them to experience the farms up close and personal, with a few stops along the way to tour – and sample! – some of the local farms. (We’ve also thrown in a winery stop, which we’re considering a “farm” for the purposes of this tour!) And by using Chattanooga as our home base for lodging and dinners, guests get to enjoy all that the downtown and riverfront has to offer, including farm-to-table dining at the best restaurants in town. Ride the valleys, take in the scenery, experience the farms firsthand, and then feast on locally-sourced food at the end of the day in one of the coolest cities in the South – the perfect ingredients for a fun weekend!
