For over 150 years the forests and lakes of northern Wisconsin have attracted summer visitors escaping the heat of regions further south. Beckoned by uninterrupted miles of state forest land, hundreds of pristine lakes, and friendly small towns, visitors flock to the region every summer for both relaxation and refreshing outdoor activities. Join us to see what the attraction of this region is all about on our seven day Northern Woods and Waters Tour. You’ll cycle for six days on paved, low traffic roads through cool, shaded canopies, past peaceful inland lakes, and on several miles of the newly completed Vilas County paved trail system. We bypass the chain hotels to stay in historic lodges and a deluxe lakefront condo resort to allow our riders to enjoy the real “up north” vacation experience. Lodging locations offer swimming opportunities, and some have canoes and kayaks available for your use. Energize for your daily bicycle adventure with hearty restaurant style buffet breakfasts, not chain hotel continentals that leave you asking, “Where’s the food”? End your day with delicious, varied restaurant dinners. Off-bike activities include a tour of Lake Minocqua and a “pedal and paddle” option on Thursday where you will be offered the chance to kayak on a pristine northern lake after a shortened bike ride. The tour begins and ends in Three Lakes, Wisconsin with overnights in Land O Lakes, St. Germain, Boulder Junction, and Eagle River. As in 2017, we will have a layover day in St. Germain in order to have an additional day to enjoy the swimming raft and watercraft available at the lakefront condos at the Black Bear Lodge Resort. Riders can choose an optional bike ride to visit the popular tourist town of Minocqua or a day off the bike to enjoy the sand swimming beach and free paddle boards, canoes, and kayaks at this beautiful resort.
Price includes six nights lodging, five restaurant dinners, six hot buffet breakfasts, optional water activity fees in St. Germain, Minocqua, and Eagle River, luggage handling, SAG, maps, cue sheets, marked routes, rest stops, and all the pampering that only small group tours can provide. This tour fills up early every year, so don’t wait to register! Check website for details.
